Stop celebrating the Soweto uprising of 16 June 1976 -- Please!

Today is Youth Day in South Africa. It commemorates the start of the Soweto uprising of 1976, a turbulent phase in the history of this country that occurred 34 years ago, -- but which our Marxist Government will continue to remember, honour, and celebrate until Jesus comes!

One day when (and if) this country develops into a mature democracy, this day will hopefully be dedicated to ALL THE CHILDREN of this multicultural nation, and not just the actions of a rebellious crowd of school kids, -- children who are today 45 to 55 year-old adults!

That the mascot for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Zakumi - (standing on the top right of your screen), has his birthday today on 16 June, is but one example of how far (and low) this government will go to ensure that the world CANNOT and MUST NOT forget how that cruel system called apartheid, forced Afrikaans down the throats of poor defenceless kids, and how the ensuing revolution under the banner of ‘black consciousness’ brought freedom for ALL!

The latest costly advertising slogan, which was hammered down our throats by the MSM all day is: “Transforming Oppression to Expression”. The sooner propaganda of this sort stops, the sooner this country will develop into a fully grown democracy ALL South Africans can be proud of!

Much has already been said about the 1976 Soweto riots. Although it is not my intention to repeat what has already been documented, I do feel it is necessary to rectify some of the falsehoods and deliberate exclusions in the theatrical-type versions of the narrative that the ANC Government has propagated to the entire world.

There is no denying that the Soweto uprising of June 1976 was a disastrous moment that drastically changed the course of history for all South Africans. To argue that a show of force with riot vehicles, helicopters, police dogs and teargas, was ineffective in bringing order to 20,000 rebellious black youths, and that rubber bullets or other non-lethal ammunition was unavailable at the time, is still no excuse for firing live ammunition into a crowd of defenceless kids. The clock can never be turned back, but the truth, and also the fact that the black youth of this country have still not abandoned their rebellious ways, and tendency to commit acts of violence whenever they feel the urge, will be exposed on MY Simple Online Abode (MYSOA), -- whether the ANC Government, the ill-informed, or the raw liberals of this world like it, or not!

While today happens to be 16 June, I might as well highlight a few lies and truths about the 1976 Soweto uprising:

A LIE
The origin of the protests are traced back to 1949 and the Eiselen Commission's inquiry into the edification of non-whites. The commission recommended drastic changes, which were implemented through the Bantu Education Act of 1953. Source

THE TRUTH
Using simple maths, starting from 1953, this lie proposes that it took 23 years for children to realize that they were being oppressed. The liberals will argue that for 23 years the poor black folk WERE oppressed, and that for 23 years their frustrations and tensions gradually mounted until it exploded in June 1976. The truth is that the protest actions of 16 June 1976 were planned in secret because black parents and black teachers would surely have not allowed it. A true reflection of the truth was noticed by Justice Minister Jimmy Kruger when he posed a question in parlement on 17 June 1976, stating: “Why do they walk with upraised fists? Surely this is the sign of the Communist Party?”

The highly criticized Bantu-Education Act of 1953, does not contain a shred of discriminatory legislation. Although it was a Bantu Education package devised by Verwoerd, the legislation was endorsed by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Assembly of the Union of South Africa. If it were such a “racist” and “discriminatory” piece of legislation why then did the black parents of that time gladly send their kids off to school for 23 years without any major objections to this Act? How come so many black South Africans became successful medical doctors, lawyers, attorneys, and judges, under the same system that endorsed the Bantu-Education Act of 1953?

The Bantu-Education Act of 1953 is available online for viewing at this link.

A LIE
The legislation caused many mission schools, through which the majority of black children were educated, to loose government aid and close. Funding for black schools was drawn from taxes paid by black people, who were generally impoverished. Source

THE TRUTH
The reality is that institutions such as Churches and Schools don’t need government support to exist. These establishments can thrive on their own through the commitment of community members, and also through the grace of God if the community prays to the right God in all earnesty. There’s ample evidence to prove that this has been achieved in many places on earth, even in times of severe misery and depression. I’m sure readers will understand if I don’t provide examples here.

As Mike Smith pointed out in his brilliant article Bantu Education under Apartheid, "the duty of the government was not and is not and will never be to provide schools (or any other infrastructure) to anybody. The role of the government is to protect the citizens against the initiation of force. That is it!"

The same article also points out several revealing truths that are conveniently obscured from the world. These truths, among others, are:
  • Since 1970 the budget for black education was raised by about 30% per year every year.
  • In the period 1955 -1984 the amount of black school students increased 31 times from 35,000 to 1,096 000.
  • 65% of black South African children were at school compared to Egypt 64%, Nigeria 57%, Ghana 52%, Tanzania 50% and Ethiopia 29%.
  • Amongst the adults of South Africa, 71% could read and write (80% between the ages 12 and 22). Compare this to Kenya 47%, Egypt 38%, Nigeria 34% and Mozambique at 26%.
  • In South Africa, the whites built 15 new classrooms for blacks every working day, every year. At 40 children per class it meant space for an additional 600 black students every day!

A SEMI-LIE
The cause of the 16 June Soweto uprising was due to the Apartheid Government’s enforcement of the Afrikaans language in black schools.

THE TRUTH
The Wikipedia article on this specific issue provides reasonably accurate information, but it also omits certain truths. I’ve branded this as a semi-lie because this was in fact the main cause of the protests, -- or to put it more precisely: it was the catalyst the communists (satan’s cronies) were waiting for!

It is common practise nowadays for people to speed-read through lengthy articles. The mind usually absorbs words in the first sentence of a paragraph and that’s it! This annoying modern-day trend has created the erroneous worldwide perception that the Afrikaans language (and by implication the Afrikaner-Boer) are to blame for the Soweto uprisings. It’s just another one of the many psyop-tricks that have been utilized over the years to destroy another perfectly healthy and productive Christian minority group, who were a thorn in the flesh for satan and his cronies. But let’s leave spirituality, religion, and dark politics out of this for now, and stick to the facts!

The Afrikaans Medium Decree of 1974 informed Circuit Inspectors and Principals of Black Schools that from January 1, 1975, Afrikaans had to be used for mathematics, and social studies from standard five (7th grade). This decree was only applicable to secondary (high school) students, and NOT primary schools. In fact, it was government policy that ‘Mother Tongue Education’ was compulsory for ALL RACES during the early formative primary school years. Only secondary schools were to use Afrikaans and English in a 50-50 mix as languages of instruction.

I think it is safe to assume that mathematics is a universal language. Although we all possess the ability to be literate in mathematics, not everyone has an aptitude for the subject. Any kid who dislikes mathematics (or school for that matter) will find any excuse not to study that subject, or any reason not to go to school at all!

JUSTICE MINISTER JIMMY KRUGER’S STATEMENT ISSUED TO PARLEMENT ON THE EVE OF 16 JUNE 1976:

Take note that I have transcribed the text from the original newspaper report, exactly word for word with errors as published in the Black African newspaper, THE WORLD, dated 17 June 1976. The original clipping can be viewed here.

“Student unrest over dissatisfaction with their curriculum has brewing in Soweto for the past ten days. At about 8:15 am on Wednesday about 10 000 pupils launched rowdy processions. (Take note how the figure of 10,000 has doubled over the years to 20,000) They were aggressive, screamed inciting slogans, carried banners and attacked the police who were present, as well as private vehicles and threw stones at them. Two vehicles of the West Rand Administration Board were overturned and a White man and a Black man were chopped to death. Two police dogs were copped to death and set alight (lovely bunch of school kids weren’t they?) Ten police vehicles were damaged and several policemen injured. The vehicles of four White women who work in the area were badly damaged. The woman were injured and admitted to hospital. Various buildings and cards (sic) were set alight. The police tried everything to get the rioters under control and eventually were forced to fire warning shots over their heads. Police are trying to force the students out of the residential area into an open area and to bring the situation under control.”

THE REAL REASON FOR THE 1976 SOWETO UPRISING:

In reality there are many kids today who don’t care much about Freedom Day, Father’s Day, Family Day, Youth Day, -- or whatever day it is, as long as it is NOT a School Day. School days are hated today with the same passion they were hated back in the 1970’s. It was this naive frailty of human nature, coupled with the ultimate satanic blood-sacrifice of ‘blameless’ kids, that was exploited by the communist forces back in 1976 to unleash a concoction of venomous chaos that spread across the entire country and the rest of the world. Obviously, the Blackman’s aversion to anything that vaguely resembled the sight, taste, or smell of the White Christian Afrikaner, facilitated the process to stir up the naïve masses and to force 100’s of youths to flee into exile. It is far more exciting to become a terrorist and learn how to fire an AK-47, than to go to school, and when you’re young you don’t care about the long-term consequences!

It takes strict parental dissipline and clever psychology to keep a child happy, while at the same time convincing the child that education is an essential ingredient of life. I can recall how much I hated taking German between grades 8 and 10 at high school. I can also remember how half the pupils in my class (overcrowded with 42 pupils - BTW) hated taking the compulsory language subject of Afrikaans.

English and Afrikaans were compulsory language subjects throughout the entire high school period from grade 8 to 12. We were fortunate enough not to be targeted by communist activists, or liberal protesters, but despite our dislike for certain subjects, and also certain teachers who seemed to take immense pleasure in swinging the cane on our backsides (or hands in the case with girls), not once did it cross our minds that a mass protest march will make our problems disappear!

A NEW SCHOOL CURRICULUM

The South African Department of Education introduced a new curriculum for Grades 10, 11 and 12 over three years, beginning in 2006. The curriculum placed more emphasis on life skills, mathematical literacy and Africa - particularly the continent's history, geography, music and dance, -- things the Black African just loves to do – all day if they had the opportunity! Click here for more info.

By July 2006 there were so many incidents of violence in South African public schools, that it was near impossible to keep up with all the reports coming in from various sources across the country. The new education system was blamed for the school violence. Some reports blamed escalating violence in schools on, among other things, the influence of violence shown on television, easy accessibility to drugs in schools, an increase in the number of Aids orphans and child-headed households, poverty and overcrowded classrooms. Click here for one example of a media report concerning this issue.

By February 2008 the South African Institute of Race Relations called for urgent government intervention to halt a “growing pattern of violence and disorder” in South African schools. The Institute’s findings, which stated among others that South Africa’s schools are the most dangerous in the world, followed a host of recent media reports of shootings, stabbings, rapes, and robberies at South African schools. Source: www.sairr.org.za/press-office.

A quick search on Google today, using their timeline function, revealed a few news reports on school riots and school violence. These reports are restricted to a date range from January 2008 to the present. It is by no means a comprehensive inventory of all incidents, but it is sufficient to illustrate my point that....

This country must STOP celebrating the Soweto uprising of 34 years ago, and start focusing on the problems our youth are facing today.

And so on…….

I REST MY CASE!

Are you not ashamed of yourself to write such a nonsense? not only that you have the nerves to tell us what allegedly is the truth and what not (while having not a minimum of credibility) - but you also want south africa to stop celebrating the youth day and to forget about the horrendous crimes that were inflicted upon protesting school kids of soweto (you even dare to give your audience the impression that thsese little children who got victimised by adult men were actually a mob of violent terrorists)!

you are exactly the kind of person that we do not need in south africa today - you can give me your phone number and we can meet up then - i want to knock you out so that you get a slight feeling of how it feels to be victimised (while this will not be anywhere near of being a young child getting shot in his back with automatic rifles by trigger happy fascist-fans in uniform)

Hmmm… you are obviously one of the many brainwashed idiots that will never recognize the truth even if it took the form of a carrot hanging in front of your nose. Your comment also shows that you have either not taken in the entire sum of the message contained in this posting, or you’re just out to cause trouble, like a typical communist.

… or do you think it was just blacks who suffered under the communist onslaught? There are no special days set aside in honour of the many young men who died on our borders. They died while protecting ALL citizens of this country.

Dear Anonymous.

I am a white female. I am 25. Why am I paying for the ills of the past? Why are my black friends paying for the same ills?

What if my generation decided that compulsory Northern Sotho was "stink"? We would be racist. (Lest we forget that racism is "single-sided" and something that only white people are prone to).

The fact is simple... Yes, there are three sides to a story (Your side, my side and the truth), but none of the youth of today had anything to do with 1976, and what we all as a multicultural country face, is something far, far worse than the Soweto uprising.

I am not too sure whether or not it has occurred to you, but the people who fought for this country's freedom are the very ones that are in power. What has that given us? Corruption, embezzlement, mis-appropriation of funds, no housing - as was promised, basically no form of better life for any one, and a lot of guilt taboot.

Bear in mind that in the country today more people are murdered within a year than the "20 000" during Apartheid.

Yes the Soweto uprising was shocking, no doubt there, but instead of "honouring" (mourning it) why not actually learn from it? The more apartheid is used as an excuse the more resentful (all genders, races and religious creeds) are going to be.

"What is done... is done"

You are part of the problem to why this country suffers under prejudice and racism. You might not be a racist, you may have black friends but the things that you have written in this article are laughable, and unfortunately true of the understanding of many whites in South Africa too. It makes me sick that this is the opinion of some "intellectual" person.

What would the whites of today do if the government enforced the entire school system to start learning in Afrikaans? There would be a revolt.

I see that you are also a Christian, so that would explain your hate and prejudice and where you were taught your position.

I would highly recommend some learning, I would encourage you to go to the hector Pieterson museum in Soweto, it was an eye opener for me years ago, that was the day I realized what i thought was truth changed and my eyes were opened.

Please try and open yourself instead of trawling the internet to links that support your theory.

@ Seeking Truth

Let me explain who you really are:--

You are a victim of propaganda!

I visited your blogger profile, and learned from there that you are a female, and that at some stage of your life you were also a Christian. I can only presume that you were a very young and immature Christian, who did not take heed of the many warnings in the Holy Scriptures that attempts will be made to deceive you.

In your search for the truth, you one stumbled upon the Hector Pieterson museum in Soweto. The photographs and audio-visual displays you saw there completely blew your mind away! That’s how propaganda works - it plays on your emotions and influences your own personal convictions about life and the meaning thereof! I suspect that your mind was probably already confused before you visited the museum, otherwise it would not have influenced you so severely.

Take a long hard look at yourself >> You’re filled with hatred and misconceptions. You’re also propagating the same falsehoods other victims of propaganda are disseminating. Your following the worldview because it is the path of least resistance – a path that will guarantee your fame among the liberal majority of the world. It’s far easier to swim downstream with the flock of sheeple, is it not?

I also visited the Hector Pieterson memorial in the early 1990’s, when it was situated in Khumalo Street. I was in my early 40’s then, and was also searching for truth. I was shocked that such a big thing was made of one incident, and that a photographer happened to be in the right place at the right time. It intrigued me how the propagandists cleverly used every single shred of evidence to manufacture guilt (and hatred) in people’s minds, and how the so-called ‘injustices of apartheid’ were overblown by this propaganda. It’s enough to make one sick – not with grief, sorrow, or guilt, but with disgust - that violence death and misery can be exploited in such a manner!

There not much difference between politically-activated museums and Hollywood movies – both are manmade graphic displays based on fragments of truth, which conceal the poison below. It is the 0.1 percent venom, dished up as entertainment, that effects us the most – and makes us sick in the head!

Stop spreading the lie that Afrikaans was forced down the throats of students. You make it sound as if ALL school subjects and ALL schools were forced to use Afrikaans. Read the article again --- It states: “The Afrikaans Medium Decree of 1974 informed Circuit Inspectors and Principals of Black Schools that from January 1, 1975, Afrikaans had to be used for mathematics, and social studies from standard five (7th grade). This decree was only applicable to secondary (high school) students, and NOT primary schools."

And lastly….
Go back to serving Christ… Go back to reading the most important most influential book, - a book that had the greatest formative influence on your development!
They’re celebrating its 400th anniversary this year.

Readers who have landed on this page seeking the truth may also be interested in an eye-opening book, written by Dr Anthea Jeffery of the SA Institute of Race Relations. This outstanding book called, People’s War: New Light on the Struggle for South Africa, is an absolute must read for anyone seeking thereal truth about South African politics.

Dr Jeffery exposes much of the lies the sheeple of today perceive as undeniable fact… The so-called “Struggle for freedom” and the first fair-and-free elections of April 1994 was not and effort to establish democracy and a non-racial universal franchise for all SA citizens… Instead, it was a murderous, blood-soaked and genocidal campaign of systemic terror by a criminal gang of Soviet, East German, Cuban & Chinese-sponsored communist terrorist thugs to seize control of the country by any means necessary, and for purposes of 1) absolute power and 2) to further the aims of internationalist communism.

Get the book now before it goes out of stock!

Anthea Jeffery holds law degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand and from Cambridge, and a doctorate in human rights law from the University of London. Her previous books include 'The Natal Story: Sixteen years of conflict and 'The Truth about the Truth Commission Both books have been acclaimed for their meticulous and objective approach, and for breaking new ground on important and contentious issues.

I was a Christian for 10 years of my adult life. I was very very serious about god and religion, so no I was not “deceived”, if you would care to read my “deconversion” story you might find that it was the elusive god that let go after months of agonizing searching, or more like I realized he was in my head. One main point that I asked myself was why do I believe what I believe? And that has spilled over into every other area of my life.

I went to the museum as a Christian and this visit had no influence on my religion, (this was also two years ago) so a discussion on religion does not need to come into play now. What blew my mind, and what I am imploring you to think about, was the fact that I as a white south African female realized that for the first time all that my parents taught me about just the Soweto uprising was wrong. It was my understanding that the schools did not want to learn Afrikaans as a subject, not that the entire system would be changed. So no, this was not about propaganda, but instead about the truth of events that led to this. You see racism is a ugly ugly thing, and to me, I stand on the grounds that it is all fuelled by misunderstanding and honestly, stupidity. We need to break this cycle.

I take both shame in the Soweto uprising as you look at how many people were murdered as well as the symbolism of the whole apartheid era, for all it stood for. Oppression. Yes south Africa is still a long way off from perfection, but by making less of notorious events that set our country free from the chains of Apartheid, I saw we should celebrate that no cultural, religious, or racial group needs to be oppressed and accept it.

I am filled with hatred? I am filled with anger at reading your post, but no, I am not filled with hatred and misconceptions. You have taken all that I say out of context. And how is the path I am on the path of least resistance? Is fighting against racism and the persecution of human beings the path of easy resistance? Look at your comments against me. Do you think it feels good that someone out there tells me I am filled with hate and anger and follow a herd.

Right place at the right time? That makes no sense, a photograph depicting children being murdered by white policeman is not being at the right place at the right time. I think the death toll from that day speaks for itself the horrors of racial oppression. FROM BOTH SIDES. And this is the cycle, we as human beings need to step back and SEE what injustice and oppression has done for us, how many people it has murdered, how many families have been torn apart (both black and white) We as HUMAN BEINGS do not need to accept discrimination. And if we have learnt nothing from our past then it was all in vain. There must be a better way to move forward as a country!

Oh yes okay, sorry, seeing that is was only the high schools then it is fine, the older children who would struggle more with learning a new language. That changes everything?? *facepalm*

This attempt at threatening me to return to your god is another example of oppression and the close minded attitude that you carry into all areas of your life it seems. The topic is just too large to even comment on. Maybe you should read YOUR bible.

One precaution is these are out of context. I still think they are useful, because many clearly show approval of inhumane behavior and affirm that the bible is pro-slavery. Jesus and his followers were also pro-slavery/racism.

When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21)

Slaves are to be under the control of their masters in all respects, giving them satisfaction, not talking back to them or stealing from them, but exhibiting completely good faith, so as to adorn the doctrine of God our savior in every way. (Titus 2:9-10)

Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and equitable but also to those who are perverse. (1 Peter 2:18)

@ Seeking Truth,

Goodness gracious dear lady… there’s no need to throw the book at me! I simply responded to your comment, AND also went to the trouble of visiting your blog, were I found the text to be unreadable due to poor formatting. I’ve noticed that you fixed the problem and also deleted my comment, which btw… politely suggested that you fix the text.

You then have the nerve to come back here, and spew more poison on my blog, stating among other things that, “if you would care to read my “deconversion” story…”

Please go away!!!!
I really don’t need people with your attitude on these pages. It will only be a waste of my precious time, trying to debate issues with you.

Assumptions assumptions. I did not delete your comment and actually looked forward to some of your opinions on my blog. Your assumptions in the first reply to me were false and had you cared to look through the rest of my story (white text on black background) Your comment came through on email but did not reflect on my blog :) keep looking it may just pop up in the next few days. Technology. Sigh.

And I did change it as you could not read a grey text on a black background, so yes I edited it to fit in with the rest of it. :) Thank you for your suggestion.

Lol.

I would just suggest to all who may have prejudice, whether white or black, indian, christian, atheist, etc etc stop being a problem in our country and seeking a way to become a solution. Our past is filled with unnecessary hate and violence, let us strive TOGETHER as humans to create a better country for all.

"We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do affects the whole world. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity."

And thats all I have to say :) all the best!

“Apparently” – you say! Well ‘apparently’ you don’t come from these parts, do you?

You are in fact a racist for mentioning White South Africans only in your comment. The truth of the matter is that whites are a minority group in this country, and… it is Black Racists (and racist people like you, who display this narrow-minded, warped attitude) who are the real problem in South Africa.

Go have a peep at THIS LINK to see how Black Racists are treating defenceless Whites in South Africa!

The fact that the majority of Black South Africans are still not over apartheid is dumbfounded. Do you see Jews demanding special treatments from Germans??? no..and millions were slaughtered! compared to a mere 20000 blacks? It has been over a decade now yet the country is at its worse..corruption in government, and crime in this country has reached monumental levels..it is not any better, if anything it is worse off. People need to move on, what happened happened..people need to wake up0 and realise that the ANC is bringing this country to its knees..they are stupid and have no idea how to run a country! yet black south africans still support them, they have done more damage to them then whites ever did! The racists are the Black South Africans, not the whites. Killing murdering and raping innocent people in this country! and for what?? a cellphone?? please..this needs to stop before its too late.
