Not many people are familiar with the story about Sandra Laing, but a new movie released in South Africa on 22 January 2010, promises to entertain and refresh the minds of 1000’s of South Africans.
In brief, the movie SKIN is based on the ‘true’ story of a coloured child called, Sandra Laing, who was born in the 1950s to white parents. At the age of ten, Sandra is rejected by her white society. The film follows Sandra’s thirty-year journey from rejection to acceptance, betrayal to reconciliation, as she struggles to define her place in a changing world - and triumphs against all odds.
The movie highlights the worldview’s irrationality of racism. Although the heart wrenching identity-crisis is portrayed in good taste and with sympathy, the powerful emotions involved in this movie play cunningly on the audience’s feelings, and acts as a stark warning that South Africans and the so-called ‘civilized’ world must never allow that cruel, heartless, racist system called “Apartheid” to raise its draconian head ever again, and neither should anyone dare speak good of it either!
This article will attempt to reveal some untruths depicted in views-and-reviews of the Sandra Laing story, as well as draw attention to certain esoteric aspects of the movie.
The first thing I noticed in the various reviews and comments concerning this film, is that in the opening paragraph Sandra Laing is usually depicted as a BLACK woman born to WHITE AFRIKANER parents in South Africa during the APARTHEID era. Many remarks also mention that her parents were unaware of their BLACK ANCESTRY.
Although I realize that these delicate untruths were probably made in ignorance, it can have serious implications.
FIRSTLY, Sandra was not Black, she was born a “Coloured”. There’s a big difference between the two. SECONDLY, her parents were not Afrikaners in the true sense of the word. Laing is not even an Afrikaans surname. It is a Scottish surname of Anglo-Saxon origin. Sannie Laing, her mother, was an Afrikaner, but her father was not! The fact that he spoke Afrikaans does not make him an Afrikaner either!
The issue concerning the Black Ancestry of the Laing couple is shrouded in falsehood.
DNA tests did not exist back in the 1960’s. Sandra’s father underwent a blood typing test (the only thing available in the 1960s), and blood typing tests prove next to nothing! Using the ABO and Rh blood systems for determination of paternity is not conclusive and absolute, it is only predictive at best. The limitations of the ABO system are clear: There are only four different blood types under this system, and two of these (A and O) are carried by a huge majority of the population. I am thus astounded to see that so many online publishers blatantly state without confirming the true facts that, “DNA tests proved that Abraham Laing (the white father) was the biological father of Sandra Laing.”
Without the validity of scientific DNA tests, one will never know if Abraham Laing was Sandra’s true biological father, or not. With the full knowledge that paternity was not scientifically and conclusively established, the bright sparks on this planet decided to draw their own conclusions and labelled the Sandra Laing case, “A text book case of genetic throwback”.
They repeated this unsubstantiated lie so often that eventually the Sandra Laing case was universally considered as one of the most striking examples of recessive alleles finally having recombined after several generations, and once again forming an individual reflective of racial mixing which occurred several generations previously. I did not make this up, I promise --- I found it here.
All things considered, there remains two other logical possibilities regarding the paternity issue in this case, and these are:
Firstly, the ‘unlikely’ possibility that the ‘conservative’ Sannie Laing had willing sex with a Blackman, and ---- secondly, the probable likelihood that she was RAPED by a Blackman. I’ll leave the reader to ponder how the second (most likely) possibility changes the whole Sandra Laing scenario completely. Who is really to blame for the heart wrenching identity-crisis that Sandra went through? Bear this in mind while watching the movie!
The esoteric aspects of the movie:
There is no doubt in my mind that this movie (like many other entertaining tear-jerkers) has an underlying malicious purpose. The producer Anthony Fabian struggled for some time to market this movie in South Africa, but then suddenly our national TV, newspapers, and magazines, started an intensive and costly marketing campaign. This tells me that our Marxist government has an important message for the citizens of South Africa, ---- and the message is twofold:
1.... To remind South Africans and the so-called ‘civilized’ world that we can never ever go back to that cruel, heartless, racist system called “Apartheid”. --- No, we should rather plod on blindly, and mix with whom we please. We must tolerate the violent and senseless shedding of blood. We must tolerate the illegal drugs that are killing our kids. We must accept the fact that killing 900,000 babies (Since 01 Feb 1997) by legalized abortion, is a ‘normal’ practice in our ‘civilized’ society. We must accept that unemployment, poverty, starvation, and government incompetence to deal with these issues, will remain with us until Jesus comes! We MUST move forward and never back, ‘cause if we look back long enough we may just wake up and realize that we’re moving in the wrong direction!
2.... To ridicule the Afrikaner Christian Heritage and Purity of the White Race.
The Film and Media Industries have already done an excellent job to accomplish this in numerous films, documentaries, and articles. The ultimate message that satan and his cronies are hammering into our heads, is that the Whiteman (and by implication the bearers of the Christian Cross) are in fact the scum of this earth. The message thus promotes hatred, more racial conflict, and also murder. The supreme goal is to further satan’s cause by abolishing God and His people from the system. (Take note: I deliberately avoid spelling the name satan with a capital “S”)
In Sandra Laing’s case a documentary was filmed in the 1970s. Before that time there were numerous newspaper and magazine articles about this incident. In 2004 Judith Stone’s book, When She Was White, made its appearance. Now there’s a forcefully promoted block-buster movie showing on our big screens, and we’re already in the year 2010! How many more times are we going to be reminded about the idiocy of the Whiteman’s past?

I wholeheartedly agree that it would be madness to go back to the political policies of the 1960’s. It would not only put us back 50-odd years, but it will also cause certain members of the UN synagogue to experience mild heart attacks, while they decide how many troops should be deployed in the country.

You mention the infrastructure that you hear about so often which the whites built, and asked who paid the price for that?
Allow me to briefly clarify this…
Building an infrastructure like the one you see here on the Southern tip of Africa took years of planning, and much blood, sweat-and-tears to build, but it provided work opportunities for EVERYONE. Similar infrastructures were built in the so-called Black homelands --- but due to the onslaught of the Marxist-Communists, and their relentless intimidation of the Black folk, these infrastructures were burnt down! During the last 10-15 years of the Apartheid era the infrastructures in the homelands as well as in the so-called predominant white areas were utilized by ALL races, and not just Whites!
The entire nation was involved in building the infrastructure. Work was allocated according to the talent you possessed. Blacks and Coloured folk were utilized for the more laborious tasks – the brick-layers, carpenters, painters, etc… according to every individual’s talent. Who gave these people their talents - BTW? Where are these people today --- after 15 years of freedom? They’re begging for food and work on the streets, and their children have become beggars, thieves, prostitutes, and drug-addicts. Unfortunately both her parents are deceased, so the matter of paternity will remain a mystery forever. Sannie Laing passed away in an old-age home in Pretoria sometime in 2001, after experiencing several strokes. She was also very frail and confused. The father passed away a year or two before Sannie died. DNA-tests are still possible despite the fact that both parents are dead, but I doubt this will ever happen because the incident is not related to any criminal act or matter of state security.
You have a point of view- you have to accept that some people will not agree with you. You sound like you had it better under apartheid and yearn for those days when everyone was in "their place"; I am sure many black South Africans would not agree. You South Africans, black and white, need to sort out your current security and other problems without pining for a repressive past with the nostalgia that many oppressive minorities have when the majority they had little regard for comes into political power. Why makes you suppose that Sannie Laing could not have had a hidden affair with a black servant? Sandra was not the only coloured looking child in the family, it is just that her African features were more pronounced- what makes you treat the genetic theories proposed by other with such derision? Please think of solutions to SA's current challenges, some of which have links to apartheid this many years later. I think the world would be a rather boring place if we (especially bloggers and surfers) all agreed with one another all the time.
The fact remains however, that paternity in the Sandra Laing case was never proven conclusively, but yet there are people out there who believe it was. This was the main aim of my posting, and also to point out why I believe that screening the movie “SKIN” in South Africa has come to early. There are far too many black-on-white hate crimes going on at present. We DO NOT need more propaganda to fuel the flames!
Sannie Laing was a very conservative Afrikaans Christian, who lived in a small conservative town. It was in the 1960’s when black people basically had zero status in the community. The chances that Sannie Laing has a secret affair with a black servant is not entirely impossible but highly unlikely under those circumstances. On a balance of probabilities, the chances of rape is thus far more likely. There are also many valid reasons why Sannie would have kept the incident a secret -- (i.e – presuming it did happen). To mention a few: The incident would have possibly ruined her marriage, and also created quite a stir in her church and in the small community. Rape was (and still is) considered a very serious crime. The onus would have been on Sannie to prove the offence. It is obvious that she never reported it to nobody, so she could never have relied on the so-called ‘hue and cry’ rule as an exception to hearsay.
It’s very easy for people to label apartheid as evil, especially if that is the global mainstream view on the matter. However, I do wish that people would think logically when they make remarks such as, “don't glorify the evil that was apartheid.” Was it the apartheid of the 1960s or the 1980s that was evil? Is it the concept of ‘separate development’ that was evil, or was it the fact that Mandela was sent to prison? Then there are the many questions of, “What if?” --- What if Mandela was sentenced to death for his acts of terrorism? What if he was left to rot and die in jail? What if the whites decided to wipe out all the blacks like the Americans did with the Indians? What if our soldiers who fought on our borders decided to bulldoze their way through Africa all the way to Cairo?
I’ve tried making South Africa my home for many years now, but unfortunately the rulers of this country have made me feel most unwelcome. I don’t like joining the ranks of activists, but fortunately they also serve a purpose in this world. We cannot sit back and do nothing while the criminals rule the roost!

The YouTube video referenced by anon above is a British propaganda documentary that has been screened countless times over and over here in South Africa, and all over the western world. It was also recently shown on Special Assignment (SABC). This was done for the sole purpose of convincing people to stop supporting a system based on racial segregation. The Sandra Laing incident is but one of many events that were exploited for this purpose.
Propaganda-media of this sort is highly effective because it plays powerfully on the emotions of people. In fact it worked so well, that despite major changes to racial policies to please western liberals, sanctions where still imposed, and financial aid was given to the Communist-Marxists. In order to understand the complexities involved here, I suggest you read the book, “People's War: New Light on the Struggle for South Africa”, by Anthea Jeffery.

The manner in which the opening footage of the 1950 - 1960’s apartheid scene is presented in the Sandra Laing documentary, is already a strong hint that this documentary had one purpose in mind, and that was to dishonour, discredit, and ridicule everything the Afrikaner stood for. The propagandist cleverly used an Afrikaans (SABC) correspondent, Karien van der Merwe, to get the message across, which is no wonder why most Afrikaners alive today feel guilty about their past heritage and culture. I’m not sure if Karien van der Merwe is the same person who acted as ‘Nurse Beukes’ in the movie skin, but she sure knows how to act in this documentary. “.. back to a time most South Africans would prefer to forget!” – What gave her the right to say this? Was she talking on behalf of the minority whites, or majority blacks?

The video features her brother between 02:10 and 02:16, and again between 05:47 and 06:01. His hair, though longer in the later frames is still brownish (nothing like black) and kinky. The only section of his hair that appears somewhat straight are the flattened sideburns. In addition, his broad nose is just like his sister's. They both have noses that are very unlike the the elder Laings. Both parents seem to have very distinctive long and hook-like noses.

It appears that Sandra Laing’s brother in the documentary is Adriaan. He was 10 years her junior. Various online sources mention that although Adriaan’s skin was much lighter than Sandra’s he did have African features and the same crinkly hair. Her other brother Leon, 7 years her junior looked white, though his complexion was sallow. His nickname at school was “Jew”.

In the light of the fact that DNA tests did not exist back then, and that a blood typing test for paternity does not prove anything, I decided to present viewers with two alternative possibilities. Both these possibilities are no more convincing than the case of genetic throwback, which will remains a presumption (theory) until exclusive scientific proof is presented.
I still believe that the Sandra Laing case was exploited back then for political motives, and that recent movies like SKIN, and the documentary on Youtube, promote racial hatred and not peace! People tend to forget that many whites from that apartheid era are still living in this country, and that the African savage has a tendency to seek vengeance in the most cruellest styles imaginable. The genocide of more than 3000 innocent Afrikaners since 1994 is a stark reality of this vengeance.
Even if both parents are dead, a DNA testing of her brothers should prove whether they shared both biological parents, which could disprove or prove the rape or affair theory. It is indeed a sad story in any case.
No this will not solve the mystery. Samples from both parents, plus a sample from the disputed child are required.

While not as conclusive as paternal or maternal DNA testing, sibling DNA testing can predict the likelihood that 2 people share one or two parents. Comparing 3 samples makes the test even more reliable. With more and more reports of parents having children of different races (including twins!), the racist assumption that a black man (an African savage perhaps?) raped Sannie Laing becomes less credible.

What is it with the liberal mind and their obsession with the word racist, and its connotation with apartheid? White people who lived during the apartheid-era fought just as hard for positive change in this country. Once the old apartheid rulers realized that the traitors in the West had stabbed them in the back, and were in fact supporting the Communists all along, people of all races started working together to forgive and forget. It came us quite a surprise to the powers in the West, when the first ‘democratic’ elections in April 1994 were finalised without too much bloodshed.
The country went through a process of Truth and Reconciliation. Agreements were signed and many promises were made, but the Black African rulers of this country wanted more. Their actions over the past 16 years have shown their true colours, and the word “savage” is actually a mild description. They’re raping the country blind, and have little regard for minority groups. The dilemma in this case concerns fatherhood. The father’s DNA is thus required as a comparison sample. I personally do not like the inference of a possible rape, but while conclusive scientific proof is lacking, it remains a possibility. You are now implying I should NOT have mentioned this possibility, simply because it is a racist assumption.
One must also see this case in its entire context – i.o.w. the timeframe in which this occurred.

"white purity" is ridiculous, as whites have always crossed the color line...Where did all those "coloreds" come from in an originally all black country???? I will however leave your comment here and submit my reply for the sake of ‘educating’ clueless people like you, who seem to have this warped perception that all colored folk originate from the White Afrikaner. I presume you are from the USA, because in South Africa we spell the word differently. I will use the term ‘Coloured’ with a capital ‘C’ as I believe these people deserve some form of respect.
Firstly, --- The latest genetic research has confirmed that Africans and so-called ‘Coloured’ folk have the highest levels of mixed ancestry in the world. This means they originate from a variety of different bloodlines from a mixture of different ethnic groups. The Coloureds you see here in Southern Africa do not all originate from the old Dutch or Hugenote Trekboers. Many of these people possess substantial ancestry from Europe, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malaya, Mozambique, Mauritius, Saint Helena and Southern Africa. Take note that ‘Southern Africa’ includes regions such as Namibia, Botswana, Angola, and Zimbabwe, -- but I suppose that doesn’t mean a thing to you Americans!
For example: In the province of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), most Coloureds come from British and Zulu heritage – see the Wikipedia article I’ve referenced below, if you don’t believe me.
Secondly, --- the vast majority of Coloured people here in South Africa choose to speak Afrikaans, -- a beautiful language the deluded liberal-minded people of this world are trying to destroy! There are many reasons why they chose that language, but I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that it is a far more descriptive language than English.

I didn't have the time to read through all of the bantering back and forth, but in my opinion one or both of her parents was "passing". This means their was some black African ancestry, but at some point some ancestor looked white enough to "pass" as white. Since it would have been economically and socially advantageous for said person to "pass" they would have done so and kept the secret either to themselves or within the family. This would explain how Sandra's parents could have children of different shades of the rainbow. It would also explain why her father would be so angry with her when she married a black man. He may have understood the difficulties she would (and did) face as a member of the black African community and even if he knew of black ancestry within his own family he may have been prejudiced himself. People of black ancestry have their own prejudices about colour.
I think when Sandra was a child, her father may have pushed to have her declared legally white so that there would be no prying eyes into the family's past.
In short, I think Sandra was just as white and just as black as one or both of her parents.

I'm shocked by what you call a review. The movie was meant to be a portrayal of this woman's life. I'm sure parts of it might have been over-dramatized but all the same, it is a true story.

To the writer of this article, God said her father was her father, becasue she looked just like him in her real life photos. And they did ran a blood test on both parents, and it came back linking both them to her parents. Its called "throw back." And I certainly believe the fathe knew he had black in him, because he never once questioned his children's skin color nor did the mother. In Sandr's real life interview, her dad never questioned hether she was his child. The Father knew he was carry black genes....They both knew they had black roots...This can only happen when both parents carry the same dominant genes, and in this case they both had. So your theory of blood DNA was not conclusive is wrong, because nature said he was the father, because she looked just like her father.. Big ol ears and all..
TIA MYSOA’S article about Sandra Laing was a retaliation to the many sites and online forums which were publicizing blatant falsehoods about an incident that happened many years ago. The article was written in Jan 2010 at the same time when the movie “SKIN” (based on the Sandra Laing story) first made its appearance on the big screen.
TIA’s reasoning and arguments were obviously stimulated by the timeframe in which the marketing and screening of the movie was taking place in SA. The author felt that the timing was inappropriate, and inspired hatred between the black and white races in a multiracial country which was trying to flaunt its adoring UNITY to the world, before the Fifa World Cup.
If you read the arguments in the comment section, you’ll notice the apologetic tone embraced by the author and also his sympathetic attitude towards Sandra. The author even offered to remove the entire posting If it offended anyone who was related to Sandra Laing.
Certain liberal-minded blogs, run by a person called “Rooster” have the uncanny knack to attack and harass other blogs and authors who write excellent articles. It is downright GUTLESS that they threaten their opponents with CLOSURE, and call them all sorts of names such as “murderers”, “verkrampte poes”, etc. etc… !

When we can accept the truth, we can all heal. Trying to 'explain away' science and history to justify pure prejudice is what fuels hate, not an accurate account of someone's life. The worst kind of Christian is the one who uses the word of God to promote intolerance. Admit the hate in your heart, apologize (for as many years as it takes, and a half century is certainly not long enough)and move forward in truth and honesty. Well, I'm an American of British/Irish/Scottish descent, and just saw "Skin" a couple of weeks ago. Had no idea it was a true story until the end of the film. I was really mesmerized by it, and started Googling....and found this site. Very interesting perspectives! I first became aware of South Africa a million years ago when I read Michener's "The Covenant". Yes, I know it's historical fiction, but the history is very real. When small ships deposit small European populations in new and unknown territory, and rely upon the long-established local population for help, there is bound to be interrelationships. It happened with the English, Dutch, Portuguese, French, and Spanish. (The Spanish actually had racial classifications in SW America, Central America, and South America. There were eight classifications, going from 100% Spanish to 0% Spanish. This included interrelationships between Spanish/native populations/slaves from West Africa and who did what with who! This was from the 1500's to the 1700's. So....very pre-Apartheid!). Husband and I are from the same background, where generations of tall, ruddy-faced, freckled, white-blonde and blue-eyed children were produced. (There was probably a Viking influence somewhere, as the boys all had/have heavy beards and lots of body hair.) We had five kids, and the first three looked the same at birth...large, just a few wisps of white hair, blue eyes..just different sexes. Imagine our surprise when # 4 (a tiny girl) arrived with a head full of jet black hair, very white skin, and dark gray eyes! No freckles at all, and only 5'tall to this day! Her skin is so white that it's almost transluscent, and no sun for this one! The family portrait is fun..looks like the stock market with a big dip where sweet #4 is! Yeah....I totally believe in the "throwback" theory! Americans have their own racial demons. However, we have long used the word "corral", which comes from the Zulu "kraal".

Sandra's brother did not look white either. It seems much more plausible that she had a secret affair than two rapes that both resulted in a pregnancy. Maybe the father had an affair. They could've lied about it all for his benefit. There are other possible explanations, but the fact that you view rape as the more likely scenario, considering the brother, makes me question your' logic.

The brother, I saw him in pictures and in video and he had the same textured hair, so there is a possibility that she could have been with a Black African man or those are jus their genes. I highly doubt the woman was raped twice, or maybe the couple just wanted to see if they could raise coloureds as whites. There white people who come from different climates or countries and have similar texture hair and look like her brother and have textured tighter curls like that. I agree that poor Sandra is the one that suffered and I am not sure if it is exact fact or not, but I did read in her bio that he didnt want to have anything to do with her. Actually, neither brothers. Why, rule out that she couldn't be both parents child biologically, especially, when you aren't sure it isn't genetically possible?

During the Apartheid years, BBC reporters would throw sweets and money into rubbish bins and let black kids dig it out. They would then film it to show the whole world how poor the blacks are in SA. They would film blacks sleeping on the lawn in parks with whites nonchalantly walking past and sell it to the world as dead blacks and unsympathetic whites not giving a damn about dead blacks in the streets.

Hey guys, you've missed the point, and its time to cut to the chase. Time to move on and talk about SOLUTIONS for the future in SA, not just bitch about the past. Who cares who or why anyone is whatever shade of colour? Its not relevant any more, is it? Who cares who is sending out negative propaganda? Don't give them airtime. Instead, acknowledge any good and useful messages in that movie (the main one being 'good god, we don't want to go back to seeing people simply in terms of their colour'). So don't waste time speculating about whether Sandra was black, white or pink. That is really not the point. In fact its the opposite of the point! If life for folks in SA is to improve, its everyone's task (not just the 'gummint's') to be constructive about improving the health and education systems, increasing job opportunities, etc etc. Back to the spirit of Mandela! He had a fantastic approach, its our job to build on that and develop the practicalities. Yes there are elements of corruption out there, always have been, always will. But there are also heaps of folks doing constructive stuff. What can YOU contribute?

I also have a strong suspicion you don’t live in the country, and that you maybe left years ago when you saw where things were heading. Am I right?
The sentiments you’ve expressed are the same sentiments I and countless other South Africans have supported and defended. We also spoke of the “spirit of Mandela”, and the many wonderful opportunities this Rainbow Nation had to offer for all its diverse peoples.

I had written a long comment but i am now discouraged. I think that if you think people should forget so easily so many years of oppression and brutality, you should look into the mirror. Your words have an underline rage yourself. Calling the African savage, shows your own lack of perspective and i just lost all my already small sympathy for you in particular. I am sorry in general for all White people who now suffer in Africa, but they should not be that surprised that hatred generates hatred. I regret finding this post after a very good movie. It is a change from the much harsher movies about apartheid, it is an interesting story about a woman who exists and has told her story. I feel like i wasted my time, on someone who can cal others racists but gets offended and defensive about her own obviously bias feelings.... But i will gladly have a new day tomorrow and hope that even though some people are still stuck in hatred and prejudice... just plain ignorance really... But as whole, the human race will get smarter and kinder to itself.

I bought the story, that is until I read the real Sandras remarks.
The movie lets us think she is a mature girl just out of school when she falls in love. Quite a change from the facts that her crush began at fourteen. This 'boyfriend' was a married man with three children! Her parents once liked him but changed their minds. Gee ya think! Her father was right to chase him off with a gun.
A good part of her sad life comes from the abuse of black men. Time and again she was used and abandoned.While pregnant no less!
Sandra said she wanted her parents forgiveness. For what? She feels some gulit . Perhaps for being rebellious? Many of us have regrets about the way we treated our parents.
Too many unknowns here. It's a real shame they made a movie and passed it off as truth.

It is more likely because Sannie Laing was a conservative traditionalist (church-going) woman. Morals, values and ethics were on a far higher level back in those days. People (of all races and culture) thus had far more respect for one another than they have now. Besides that, it was forbidden by the laws of the country to have relationships across the colour line. I honestly doubt that an "NG-Kerk" conformist would even think of starting a relationship across the colour line, committing an offence in the process.
I just watched the movie SKIN, and going online, saw this blog. I also read the full story of Sandra online, which of course is not portrayed in the film. Well, of course they arent going to suggest that her mother was raped, tho they DID make it clear in the film that the father DID suspect something happened. My honest feelings during the movie, was that Sandra was played by an actress who was too black, or that the whiteness of the parents was somehow overstated. BUT, oddly, Sandra was as black as the movie, and the parents as white. Atavistic traits do pop up in genetics, and I dont doubt there might be black genes in the Afraakaners, just as there are white genes in blacks in the USA. As much as ultra conservative statements rub me the wrong way, I think its wrong to paint conservatives as villians, as much as painting liberals as the good guys can be. Whatever Sandra's genetic makeup, it doesnt matter. She was the daughter of white people, and the fact that the country had draconian apartheid laws caused most the problems. Sandra was a wild girl, and endured statitory rape by Petrus. No wonder the dad was mad! As for her paternity, since the brother was so dark, I'd be willing to bet that the mother did have a secret affair. A black great great grandparent, with 7 white great great grandparents, dont produce a black child. IF it could happen, and if the genes of Afrikaaners were so black...then were are the other children born black like Sandra? Surely with a population that large, it would happen more often. But, for TWO black children in one family? Maybe Abraham was not able to father children. No matter what happened, I think that Sandra suffered horribly. And I hope she finds happiness, and that Apartheid never rises its head again anywhere.
